I've built delivery from the ground up — more than once.

My career started with writing COBOL on mainframes and evolved into leading multi-project portfolios, coaching Scrum teams, and sitting across the table from C-suite stakeholders to present strategic roadmaps. That breadth — from code to boardroom — is what makes me a different kind of delivery leader.

I don't manage delivery from a distance. I'm in the backlog with the team, I'm in the budget conversation with finance, and I'm in the risk register before anyone else has spotted the problem. My job is to make sure the right things get done, by the right people, in the right order — every sprint.

Whether the title says Scrum Master, Project Manager, or Delivery Manager, the mission is the same: build a team that ships with confidence, and a process that survives beyond my tenure.

How I Work

A Day in My Life

No two days are identical in programme delivery — but here's a window into how a typical working day looks when I'm running a multi-project portfolio.

8:30 AM
Programme Health Check
First thing — open Azure DevOps dashboards across all active projects. Review overnight updates, check sprint burn-down, flag any items that have slipped or are at risk. If something needs escalation, it goes on the morning agenda before stand-ups begin.
9:30 AM
Daily Stand-ups & Scrum Ceremonies
Facilitating or observing stand-ups across teams. I'm listening for blockers, dependencies, and anything that doesn't add up between what was planned and what's being reported. Impediments get logged and actioned immediately — not parked for a later meeting.
11:00 AM
Stakeholder Connects & Governance Calls
Client calls, internal governance reviews, or 1:1s with delivery leads. I bring data — sprint metrics, risk status, budget tracking — not just status updates. Every governance call should leave stakeholders informed and confident, not just attended to.

Backlog Refinement & Planning Sessions
Working with Product Owners and teams to groom upcoming stories, clarify acceptance criteria, break down dependencies, and ensure the next sprint is scoped and ready. Good planning is the cheapest form of risk management.

Updating RAID logs, reviewing open risks with delivery leads, and ensuring mitigation actions are tracked and owned. Risks don't resolve themselves — someone has to own every row in the register, and I make sure they do.

Preparing programme status reports, updating executive dashboards, and reviewing financial tracking. Automated where possible — I've built reporting pipelines that save 8–10 hours a week of manual effort across teams.

The part that matters most in the long run. Coaching Scrum Masters, mentoring younger team members, and having honest conversations about what's working and what isn't. The best investment I make daily is in the team's ability to deliver without me.
